AT&T launched their VoIP service in 2003 and since then it is moving towards improvements. AT&T CallVantage is one of the best in technical and feature management service. It offers plenty of features plus a very strong voice quality. Though it is a bit expensive than other available Internet Phone services. But it is worth for its high quality consistent voice and numbers of features. You can subscribe with various plans at different costs. For example at the cost of $29.99 you can have unlimited-minutes plan per month. This is what Lingo and Packet8 Internet phone services offer but not with as stronger voice as AT&T CallVantage.

AT&T CallVantage Installation

Installation of AT&T CallVantage VoIP service is a bit complex. You need to attach a D-Link telephone adapter (TA) to your system. It connects your phone to the broadband Internet connection you are using in your system. It also allows you to connect your phone with a small DSL network. Well this is not as straightforward as sounds. But don’t worry you’ll get the instruction guide. First power off all the system and connect Ethernet port of TA to the router’s WAN port through the cable. Also take the cable from DSL modem and connect to the TA’s WAN port. Once your hardware is set up, all you need to do is go to CallVantage website. Enter you log in user name and password for TA’s Web administration and follow the steps for TA activation. Wait for the dial tone. As soon as you get dial tone log on to your account and customize its features according to your likings. To get start you need to go to personal call manager. Call manager you can download user help pages or other tips. This allows you to introduce yourself to the AT&T CallVantage features.

AT&T CallVantage VoIP Service calling plans

You can order a plan online or visiting the office. Residential unlimited-minutes plan costs you $29.99 per month. CallVantage local plan costs $19.9 per month. You can make unlimited local calls. Long distance calls cost you 4 cents per minute. The third plan is Small Office Plan at the cost of $49.99 per month. It offers you two telephone lines. At one line you can call for unlimited minutes. At the other line you are allowed 500 minutes for long distance calls. One fax machine can be attached to either of the lines. Remember the unlimited plans work for the United States and Canada. Moreover there is no cancellation fee if you decide to cancel the service during the first year.

AT&T CallVantage VoIP Service Features

AT&T CallVantage service offers you standard as well as special features. Standard features include call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling, and caller ID. You can register with your existing phone number as well as the new number. You can also choose from more than 39 state area codes. Virtual numbers is another attractive feature that CallVantage offers. You can have one virtual number for $4.99 per month. You can have the area codes for long distant sates and make unlimited local calls. AT&T CallVantage also offers you 911-support. But it is not as good as your landline service. You have to provide your address when you all for 911 help. Call forwarding also offers more safety. For example you can provide your cell phone number to the CallVantage web account. Now in case power fails or Inter gets disconnected, all the calls will be forwarded to that number. Conference calling costs you $35 cents per minute. You can make conference with maximum 9 persons. Call filtering and don’t disturb features are also cool.
